Senior Mechanical Field Engineer – Gas Turbine at Xcel Energy (Hybrid)
Senior Mechanical Field Engineer supporting Xcel Energy’s steam and combustion turbine fleet. The role covers outages, inspections, troubleshooting, technical analysis, field engineering, and power plant projects.
Descriere
- Manage steam and combustion turbine systems across the fleet
- Lead system planning, performance accountability, improvements, troubleshooting, and technical analysis
- Disassemble and reassemble turbine units
- Inspect equipment and recommend necessary repairs
- Perform technical analysis during major outages
- Apply engineering standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques to complex assignments
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including designs, tests, calculations, reports, and standards
- Develop and apply engineering procedures
- Provide technical support to Operations, Maintenance, testing and diagnostics, and Regulatory teams
- Oversee or direct field engineering activities for commissioning, testing, and inspections
- Lead small- to medium-sized non-critical projects and coordinate critical projects or project phases
- Support bidding and evaluation activities through bid documents, technical proposal reviews, and selection recommendations
- Coordinate work with Supply Chain and Legal
- Share technical information with internal teams and external customers
- Assign and coordinate work for interns, drafters, technicians, craft personnel, and other staff
- Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers
- Manage budgeting, estimating, forecasting, accounting, and work orders for engineering projects
Cerințe
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- Mechanical Engineering degree preferred
- At least 2 years of relevant engineering experience for the Staff level
- At least 5 years of relevant engineering experience with EIT/FE certification, or 7 years without EIT/FE, for the Senior level
- At least 9 years of relevant engineering experience with PE registration, or 15 years without PE registration, for the Principal level
- Ability to demonstrate the technical skills and core competencies defined for the applicable engineering level
- EIT/FE certification strongly preferred at the Staff level
- PE registration may be required for the Senior level based on business needs
- Technical Field Advisor experience with steam or gas turbines preferred
- Experience with steam turbines, combustion turbines, and rotating equipment such as pumps and motors preferred
- Previous power plant experience in operations, maintenance, or engineering preferred
- Proficiency in vibration analysis and equipment balancing preferred
- Experience and training with Siemens, GE, or other OEM equipment preferred
