Senior Verification and Validation Engineer, Civils

Lead verification and validation for Rolls-Royce SMR nuclear power station civil designs. The role covers safety-case evidence, testing, compliance assessment, and engagement with regulators.

Aprašymas

  • Create verification and validation strategies for the assigned area.
  • Serve as the intelligent customer for plant and wider business verification and validation activities.
  • Support verification and validation of the safety case.
  • Prepare reports for regulatory authorities and present or discuss them with regulators when required.
  • Set objectives and requirements for verification and validation work, including rig testing and analysis, and agree them with delivery teams.
  • Review, audit, and gather verification evidence produced internally and across the supply chain.
  • Compile evidence and evaluate compliance against requirements.
  • Coordinate technical interfaces across functions to deliver coherent and efficient solutions.
  • Lead verification and validation work packages for complex structures, systems, or components.
  • Deliver verification strategies in line with business and regulatory expectations.
  • Mentor and coach colleagues while providing rigorous technical reviews across the verification and validation team.
  • Work with engineering and project teams to resolve issues and deliver quality outcomes.
  • Represent verification and validation in discussions with suppliers, customers, technical experts, and regulators.
  • Take ownership of complex, safety-critical, or business-critical power station areas and lead confirmation of design compliance.

Reikalavimai

  • Background in verifying and validating new or existing civil, structural, or mechanical structures, systems, or components.
  • Experience in a safety-critical, highly regulated industry; nuclear-sector experience is beneficial but not required.
  • Track record of leading complex and challenging engineering work packages.
  • Experience with steel or concrete modular structures, fire, blast, missile, or seismic design hazards, or physical performance-testing programmes is beneficial but not required.
  • Project management experience covering budgets, schedules, and resources.
  • Experience monitoring and controlling project scope.
  • Experience identifying, reporting, and mitigating technical and programme risks.
  • Ability to establish and sustain effective supplier and customer relationships.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Able to handle uncertainty and change, explain complex subjects clearly, and influence stakeholders.
  • Analytical, systematic approach to work.
  • Systems-thinking perspective with experience defining and managing requirements across disciplines.
  • Ability to perform detailed technical reviews and checks, with careful attention to detail and constructive feedback.
  • Engineering degree or equivalent qualification recognised by a relevant professional body, or progress toward one.
  • Must obtain BPSS clearance.
  • Must successfully complete a DBS check.
  • Must successfully complete a basic financial probity check.
