Lead large-scale AI engineering data programs for Gramian Consulting, overseeing delivery, quality, contributors, workflows, and cost. The role covers coding datasets, evaluations, and operational systems for distributed software-engineering teams.

Description

  • Lead end-to-end program delivery across scope, timelines, quality, throughput, contributor performance, and cost.
  • Design and oversee workflows for coding datasets, agentic trajectories, reinforcement-learning environments, benchmarks, and rubric-based evaluations.
  • Diagnose operational bottlenecks and improve execution through clearer instructions, sequencing, incentives, review processes, and capacity planning.
  • Define contributor profiles and work with talent teams to source, evaluate, onboard, train, and scale distributed software engineers.
  • Establish team-lead and reviewer structures for programs involving 100–1,000+ contributors.
  • Manage quality-control systems and analyze datasets for trends, recurring errors, and underlying causes.
  • Serve as the main customer contact for AI labs, reporting progress, risks, quality patterns, and recovery plans.
  • Turn research goals into actionable task specifications and challenge assumptions when requirements may fail to generate the intended evaluation signal.
  • Apply Python, SQL, or comparable tools to automate quality sampling, defect analysis, throughput reporting, and operational reviews.
  • Turn effective workflows into reusable playbooks, quality controls, evaluation resources, and contributor-management systems.
  • Document operational insights and coach other program leads.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated success leading complex, multi-stakeholder programs in software engineering, technical program management, consulting, finance, startups, operations, or a related setting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, including identifying bottlenecks, defining useful metrics, and improving production performance.
  • Experience overseeing distributed teams, contributor networks, marketplaces, or large-scale technical operations.
  • Strong client-facing communication skills, with experience setting expectations, explaining risks, and developing lasting customer relationships.
  • Ability to read and review code, understand test suites, and independently evaluate technical work.
  • Working proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Python, TypeScript, Java, or Go.
  • Experience using data and operational metrics to track quality, throughput, performance, and delivery.
  • Ability to perform effectively as research requirements and priorities change rapidly.
