Senior Remote Liability Claims Examiner, General Liability

Sedgwick is hiring a remote liability claims examiner to manage complex Public Entity General Liability claims involving serious injuries, coverage issues, and legal disputes. The role develops defense and resolution strategies for challenging claims.

Description

  • Manage high-value Public Entity General Liability claims involving serious injuries, complex coverage issues, and legal inquiries or disputes.
  • Create strategies that move claims toward satisfactory resolution.
  • Evaluate reports and forms, answer inquiries, obtain legal opinions, pursue early resolution, and communicate outcomes to the relevant parties.
  • Handle complex claims involving serious injuries.
  • Act on decisions, agreements, and court orders; create action plans, determine when examinations are needed, and secure client authorization.
  • Identify claims suitable for settlement or redemption.
  • Collect and record additional information while coordinating with client representatives.
  • Request legal or private investigations, coordinate assignments with local counsel, and monitor counsel performance.
  • Respond to requests from plaintiff counsel, unions, employees, and clients.
  • Assess claim issues and develop defense strategies.
  • Set or revise accrued liabilities and authorize administrative expenses.
  • Recognize subrogation opportunities and oversee the related process.
  • Participate in mediations, trials, arbitrations, and hearings when required.
  • Collaborate with partners to support early return-to-work outcomes.

Requirements

  • At least five years of general liability claims management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.
  • Experience managing high-value Public Entity General Liability claims involving serious injuries or complex coverage issues.
  • Capability to manage legal inquiries and disputes.
  • Strong conceptual and clear-thinking skills.
  • Excellent judgment, troubleshooting, problem-solving, analytical, and discretionary abilities.
  • Ability to manage work-related stress effectively.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities at the same time.
  • Consistent ability to meet deadlines.
  • Computer keyboarding proficiency.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required.
