Senior Data Science Manager, Predictive Analytics and AI | Biogen

Lead predictive analytics, machine learning, and AI initiatives for Biogen’s U.S. commercial biotechnology organization. Generate insights into patients, healthcare providers, treatment patterns, and disease progression.

Description

  • Create, validate, and support machine learning and predictive analytics solutions for the U.S. Commercial function
  • Assess business and analytical requirements, then apply suitable statistical, machine learning, and AI approaches
  • Establish and improve practices for model development, monitoring, governance, and ongoing optimization
  • Deliver advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI solutions that inform understanding of patient populations, provider behavior, treatment patterns, and disease progression
  • Build predictive models for patient identification, segmentation, treatment initiation, adherence, persistence, and provider engagement
  • Combine and examine claims, electronic health records, specialty pharmacy, and commercial datasets
  • Work with Commercial, Medical Affairs, and Insights & Analytics teams to turn findings into evidence-based strategies
  • Present complex analytical results to executives and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Contribute to an environment focused on innovation, collaboration, continuous development, and technical quality
  • Oversee external vendors and consulting relationships
  • Coordinate multiple initiatives and deliver work on schedule and to a high standard
  • Report to the Director of Predictive Sciences

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree plus at least five years of experience, or a master’s degree plus at least three years, in data science, computer science, statistics, mathematics, engineering, economics, or a related quantitative discipline
  • At least three years of experience supporting U.S. Commercial teams in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology sector
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL
  • Experience using Databricks, Snowflake, and Power BI
  • Advanced knowledge of machine learning, statistical modeling, predictive analytics, and optimization
  • Familiarity with commercial pharmaceutical data sources such as IQVIA, Symphony Health, Veeva, Komodo, claims, and electronic health records
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Availability for approximately 10–20% travel as required
  • Ability to work hybrid, including three days per week onsite at the Research Triangle Park, North Carolina office
