Senior Data Engineer, BI and ETL (Germany Remote)
Senior Data Engineer responsible for building data pipelines and models with Databricks, Airflow, dbt, and Snowflake. The role supports sustainable data products for analytics, reporting, and artificial intelligence at CONVOTIS.
Description
- Design, build, and continuously improve robust, maintainable data pipelines and models
- Orchestrate workflows with Airflow, including monitoring, alerts, retries, and quality controls
- Develop and refine analytical models in dbt using modular design, testing, documentation, and lineage
- Help define layered architectures and data contracts for business intelligence, analytics, and artificial intelligence
- Improve process performance, cost efficiency, and reliability
- Identify technical debt and opportunities to simplify systems
- Collaborate with business, BI, and platform teams to turn requirements into sustainable data solutions
- Explore and apply AI use cases that improve development, quality, documentation, and data utilization
Requirements
- Approximately four years of data engineering experience; candidates with less experience may be considered if they demonstrate equivalent seniority, impact, and autonomy
- Strong command of SQL and Python
- Hands-on experience with Databricks, Airflow, dbt, and Snowflake
- Knowledge of data modeling, version control, CI/CD, observability, and data quality
- Ability to analyze complex problems, develop alternatives, and explain technical decisions clearly
- Product-oriented mindset with a collaborative approach and commitment to continuous improvement
- Experience with data governance, catalogs, lineage, security, or cost management is valued
- Experience modernizing platforms from legacy processes toward reusable models and semantic layers is valued
- Experience applying generative AI or machine learning to engineering tasks or data products is valued
- Willingness to share knowledge, review code, and raise the team’s technical standards is valued
