Senior Communications Director

Lead executive communications, earned media, and crisis strategy while shaping global reputation across smart home and building solutions.

Description

  • Plan executive communications aligned with business priorities
  • Create executive decks, talking points, briefing documents, and scripts
  • Maintain the executive communications calendar and prioritize incoming requests
  • Develop industry perspectives and turn them into executive narratives
  • Incorporate customer, partner, and solution stories into executive communications
  • Advise on messaging risks, communication considerations, and strategic positioning
  • Direct internal executive communications, including town halls, intranet content, organizational emails, and leadership messaging
  • Ensure employee communications clearly explain company strategy
  • Lead external executive communications, including social media messaging
  • Track, assess, and report on executive communications and thought leadership activity
  • Use performance insights to improve messaging and executive engagement
  • Create and deliver proactive earned media programs across consumer, trade, business, and innovation outlets
  • Manage reputational threats and high-impact issues, maintaining readiness for rapid response
  • Work with legal, HR, operations, and marketing to coordinate responses and safeguard reputation
  • Create external messaging frameworks that connect corporate priorities to compelling stories
  • Write or oversee press releases, executive remarks, opinion articles, media statements, and issue responses
  • Oversee communications department budgets
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Communications team through objectives and performance feedback

Requirements

  • At least 15 years of experience in communications, executive communications, marketing operations, or a related professional field
  • At least 10 years of experience developing internal and/or external communications
  • Advanced writing and presentation proficiency using PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Proven experience leading and developing a communications team
  • Experience advising senior executives, including direct partnership with the C-suite
  • Advanced experience providing strategic communications counsel
  • Experience acting as a company spokesperson and managing media relationships
  • Thorough knowledge of media dynamics, crisis response procedures, and brand and reputation positioning
  • Ability to perform under pressure, navigate ambiguity, and resolve problems creatively, clearly, and promptly
  • Outstanding strategic thinking skills
  • Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives through influence and diplomacy
