Operations Supervisor - South Bend

Lead inbound, outbound, and warehouse operations for DSV in an onsite South Bend role. Manage teams, labor planning, customer service, and performance against operational KPIs.

Description

  • Oversee inbound, outbound, product slotting, and customer communication activities
  • Coordinate labor schedules, space utilization, equipment, and staffing levels
  • Recruit and train employees, assign daily work, conduct performance reviews, address performance concerns, and resolve operational issues
  • Supervise receiving, warehousing, and shipping activities under the Operations Manager or Distribution Center Manager
  • Lead staff meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Report critical operational issues to senior leaders and client representatives
  • Create systems and procedures for the safe, efficient, and profitable management of operations, equipment, and products
  • Manage performance against productivity, service, quality, and client KPI targets
  • Implement cost-reduction initiatives and report their results
  • Provide guidance and support to Human Resources
  • Assist with hiring, training, professional development, promotions, pay increases, and other HR activities
  • Train and assess warehouse employees
  • Build daily work plans from work orders, arrival notices, and customer instructions
  • Assign responsibilities and adjust warehouse space, supplies, equipment, and staffing as operational needs change
  • Monitor work quality and output, coach employees, and delegate supervisory responsibilities to team leads
  • Update the Manager on daily progress, challenges, and issues
  • Participate in physical warehouse operations when needed
  • Motivate employees and contribute to customer satisfaction
  • Support employee growth and development and complete annual performance reviews
  • Train and support employees in corporate and client Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least three years of experience in logistics, distribution, or a related environment
  • At least one year of supervisory experience
  • Successful completion of a forklift training program
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience using RF scanners
  • Understanding of warehouse management system (WMS) functions
  • English reading, writing, and verbal communication skills
  • Business communication skills
  • Basic to intermediate math skills for verifying quantities, counting inventory, and handling, storing, and distributing products
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective organizational and personnel management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Leadership, supervision, and planning abilities
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends
  • Ability to participate in cross-training
