Databricks Architect - Remote in the United States

Point C is hiring a remote Databricks Architect to build Azure lakehouse platforms for healthcare benefits data. The role covers claims-data pipelines, governance, and production analytics infrastructure.

Description

  • Create scalable data platforms with Databricks, Apache Spark, Delta Lake, and SQL, supported by solution architectures and technical design documentation.
  • Develop Bronze, Silver, and Gold Medallion Architecture for enterprise workloads spanning multiple claims systems.
  • Build, tune, and maintain production ETL/ELT pipelines with Databricks Workflows, PySpark, and SQL.
  • Support ADF and ADLS ingestion along with established kill-and-fill dimension patterns.
  • Design and manage data models and Delta tables, including schema evolution, time travel, partitioning, and optimization.
  • Architect Azure solutions that connect cloud storage services and databases.
  • Implement Unity Catalog, access controls, governance, lineage, and security measures.
  • Convert claims-system data dictionaries into Unity Catalog tables for reporting and API use.
  • Set and execute strategies to improve platform performance and control costs.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to turn requirements into technical designs.
  • Establish CI/CD processes for Databricks notebooks, jobs, and infrastructure.
  • Diagnose production pipeline issues and help maintain platform reliability.

Requirements

  • 5–7 years of experience in data engineering or cloud engineering.
  • Demonstrated hands-on expertise with Databricks and Apache Spark.
  • Advanced proficiency in PySpark and SQL.
  • Strong knowledge of Delta Lake and Medallion Architecture.
  • Experience with at least one cloud platform, specifically Azure.
  • Understanding of data governance, Unity Catalog, IAM/RBAC, and security practices.
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code concepts.
  • Strong knowledge of data warehousing, dimensional modeling, and distributed data processing.
  • Azure Data Factory experience is preferred.
  • Terraform experience is preferred.
  • Kafka or other streaming-technology experience is preferred.
  • Experience with Power BI platforms is preferred.
  • Databricks certifications are preferred.
  • Experience designing enterprise data lakes or lakehouses is preferred.
