Veterinary Dermatology Consultant - Maine Remote

Provide remote veterinary dermatology consultations for IDEXX, supporting veterinarians with diagnostic testing, laboratory result interpretation, and treatment decisions for animal patients.

Description

  • Conduct telephone consultations for canine, feline, and equine dermatology cases
  • Guide veterinarians on diagnostic testing, sample collection, and interpretation of dermatologic disease results
  • Interpret serum allergy tests, skin and ear cultures, skin biopsies, and dermatopathology findings for customers
  • Provide timely, high-quality consultations while meeting caseload and turnaround requirements
  • Remain available during consultation hours and respond promptly to veterinary colleagues
  • Keep current with veterinary dermatology research and evolving clinical best practices
  • Take part in Medical Consulting meetings, continuing education, and organizational initiatives
  • Maintain active ACVD Diplomate status when applicable
  • Maintain all required state or provincial veterinary licenses
  • Record consultation details accurately in the customer relationship management system
  • Support the growth and success of IDEXX Medical Consulting Services through an exceptional customer experience

Requirements

  • DVM or VMD degree with a current veterinary license in good standing
  • ACVD board certification
  • Residency-trained or dermatology-focused practitioners with substantial clinical experience may be considered at a different level
  • Advanced veterinary dermatology expertise, including management of dermatologic diseases in dogs, cats, and horses
  • Full-time availability is preferred; part-time applicants must maintain consistent availability during consultation hours
  • Availability and flexibility during Monday-Friday consultation hours from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time
  • Experience interpreting laboratory findings and applying diagnostic data to patient care decisions
  • Strong verbal communication and veterinary consultation abilities
  • Capacity to manage multiple remote cases while meeting service-level and turnaround expectations
  • Fluency in English
  • Additional language proficiency is an advantage
