Description

Build and maintain resilient data pipelines and architectures for business intelligence, analytics, and machine learning
Work closely with data scientists, analysts, engineers, and business stakeholders
Convert business requirements into scalable, efficient data solutions
Explain complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders
Deliver high-performance, scalable data processing solutions
Improve data storage, retrieval, and ETL workflows
Lead the design and development of cloud-based data solutions
Use GitLab for version control and code and deployment pipelines
Write and optimize SQL queries while integrating multiple sources into data lakes and warehouses
Automate and simplify data pipelines with shell scripting and relevant tools
Support the development of junior data engineers through mentoring
Lead code reviews and uphold engineering best practices

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline
At least four years of experience as a data engineer or in a comparable role, with a record of delivering large-scale data solutions
Advanced SQL skills, including complex query development
Strong Python programming experience for data engineering, custom processing solutions, and automation
Extensive experience with Apache Spark and Apache Kafka for distributed and batch processing
Practical experience using Apache Airflow to orchestrate data flows
Solid experience with AWS or another cloud provider
Proficiency with GitLab for version control and CI/CD workflows
Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization
Experience with dbt for data transformation
Experience with shell scripting, such as Bash
Experience with Java or Scala in addition to Python
Experience with Apache Hive
Understanding of data governance, security practices, and compliance requirements
Familiarity with agile methods and cross-functional collaboration
Familiarity with machine learning concepts
Strong problem-solving ability and experience handling large, complex datasets
Excellent communication and collaboration skills across teams
Ability to mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership
