Build scalable Python, Spark, Kafka, and Airflow pipelines for an energy-sector client. Design cloud data lakes and warehouses that support analytics and machine learning.

- Build and maintain resilient data pipelines and architectures for business intelligence, analytics, and machine learning
- Work closely with data scientists, analysts, engineers, and business stakeholders
- Convert business requirements into scalable, efficient data solutions
- Explain complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders
- Deliver high-performance, scalable data processing solutions
- Improve data storage, retrieval, and ETL workflows
- Lead the design and development of cloud-based data solutions
- Use GitLab for version control and code and deployment pipelines
- Write and optimize SQL queries while integrating multiple sources into data lakes and warehouses
- Automate and simplify data pipelines with shell scripting and relevant tools
- Support the development of junior data engineers through mentoring
- Lead code reviews and uphold engineering best practices

- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline
- At least four years of experience as a data engineer or in a comparable role, with a record of delivering large-scale data solutions
- Advanced SQL skills, including complex query development
- Strong Python programming experience for data engineering, custom processing solutions, and automation
- Extensive experience with Apache Spark and Apache Kafka for distributed and batch processing
- Practical experience using Apache Airflow to orchestrate data flows
- Solid experience with AWS or another cloud provider
- Proficiency with GitLab for version control and CI/CD workflows
- Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization
- Experience with dbt for data transformation
- Experience with shell scripting, such as Bash
- Experience with Java or Scala in addition to Python
- Experience with Apache Hive
- Understanding of data governance, security practices, and compliance requirements
- Familiarity with agile methods and cross-functional collaboration
- Familiarity with machine learning concepts
- Strong problem-solving ability and experience handling large, complex datasets
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across teams
- Ability to mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership
