Associate Director of Key Accounts, Pharma

Build executive partnerships and growth strategies across U.S. healthcare accounts for pharmaceutical products. Manage group purchasing organization programs, customer insights, and cross-functional business plans.

Description

  • Build relationships with C-suite executives and other key decision-makers.
  • Identify and support business opportunities across group practices, hospital departments, community hospitals, and academic centers.
  • Understand customer needs, present pharmaceutical service lines, and grow partnerships.
  • Represent customer perspectives and cultivate lasting relationships across key accounts.
  • Create and carry out strategies that encourage stakeholders to adopt pharmaceutical products.
  • Develop executive, administrative, operational, and clinical champions within assigned accounts.
  • Plan and lead business reviews with decision-makers and administrative executives.
  • Share customer trends, competitor developments, and industry issues with corporate leadership.
  • Advise accounts and internal partners on regulatory and process changes that affect account economics and product use.
  • Build relationships with key opinion leaders and draw on clinical experts.
  • Put cross-functional business plans and development strategies into practice for targeted key accounts.
  • Meet business objectives and performance metrics for assigned accounts.
  • Use customer insights to inform organizational planning.
  • Work with internal teams across functions.
  • Implement and oversee assigned group purchasing organization contracts, programs, and services within the account geography.
  • Stay informed about healthcare policy, reform, managed care, reimbursement, market economics, and industry developments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • At least 7 years of pharmaceutical experience, including biotechnology.
  • Pharmaceutical or medical sales experience required.
  • Oncology or rare disease experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to build professional relationships with senior executives, C-suite stakeholders, and decision-makers at community oncology practices and specialty group purchasing organizations.
  • Strong networking skills.
  • Record of success in medical sales.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Experience translating group strategy into tactics and campaigns.
  • Strong analytical, training, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Working knowledge of healthcare delivery consolidation and value-based oncology care.
  • Knowledge of emerging oncology trends and patient care needs.
  • Ability to synthesize market data and communicate findings to group purchasing organization leaders.
  • Comfort with clinical and complex information and ability to develop customer-focused insights.
  • Ability to work collaboratively on a team.
  • Innovative, proactive approach, strong analytical skills, and sound business acumen.
  • Practical knowledge of healthcare markets and protocols.
  • Interpersonal flexibility when working with a broad range of people.
  • Ability to travel 60% or more, including weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
  • Overnight travel required.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and review large amounts of printed or online material.
