Senior Remote Database Administrator (RDBMS)

Design and support relational database solutions for financial services applications, guiding complex enhancements, testing, and production support. Provide technical direction to banking technology teams and help resolve operational issues.

Descriere

  • Consult application owners on business needs and recommend RDBMS changes
  • Build strong relationships with clients, colleagues, vendors, and industry professionals
  • Evaluate vendors and products and recommend suitable options
  • Turn business needs into functional database specifications
  • Recommend RDBMS designs for enhancements, efficiency improvements, and production issue resolution
  • Flag design risks and concerns early
  • Advise on technical, business, and operational impacts
  • Guide and train less experienced team members
  • Oversee complex project plans, tasks, dependencies, and issue mitigation
  • Support application project delivery and production operations
  • Review initiative progress and discuss regulatory, compliance, vendor, and maintenance changes with technology stakeholders
  • Act as the RDBMS subject matter expert for functionality and testing
  • Coordinate integrated testing and address test environment issues
  • Drive resolution of enhancement, reliability, and production issues
  • Recommend RDBMS technologies, policies, and processes
  • Provide feedback on vendor software and database changes
  • Find ways to improve performance and effectiveness
  • Uphold internal controls and carry out audit and regulatory actions
  • Identify risk issues that need escalation
  • Represent the technical team on committees and ad hoc projects
  • Contribute to departmental strategy, solution design, and resource planning
  • Provide backup for senior colleagues and handle other assigned responsibilities

Cerințe

  • Associate degree plus at least 8 years of RDBMS experience, or at least 10 years of combined education and work experience including at least 8 years in RDBMS
  • Experience managing several complex projects at the same time
  • Experience leading major system and RDBMS enhancements, conversions, and production issue resolution
  • Strong project management skills

  • Experience leading problem-solving and issue resolution
  • Expert command of RDBMS skills, tools, and functions
  • Excellent spoken and written communication
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, organizational, and time management skills
  • Strong lateral thinking
  • Ability to connect separate ideas into coherent solutions
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • At least 3 years of experience with banking applications, frameworks, business needs, and RDBMS direction and framework preferred
  • Bachelor's degree or higher preferred
  • Demonstrated mentoring and leadership in RDBMS project analysis, design, development, troubleshooting, and tuning preferred
  • Expertise across multiple RDBMS skills, tools, and functions, with advanced operating systems knowledge preferred
  • Previous banking RDBMS support experience preferred
  • CAPPM experience preferred
  • Ability to understand the supported businesses and their terminology
  • Ability to assess project and problem impacts across technical, business, and operational areas
