- Advance machine learning across Walmart’s BuyBox, Search, and Personalization products.
- Create modern ranking and recommendation solutions using generative AI and neural networks.
- Lead initiatives from research and problem definition through experimentation, deployment, and ongoing refinement.
- Select data sources, maintain data quality, and build scalable models for customer and business decisions.
- Guide machine learning work for BuyBox offer ranking, Variant Leader Selection, Search, and Personalization.
- Develop ranking and recommendation systems with Learning-to-Rank, deep learning, and current machine learning methods.
- Use generative AI, large language models, and neural networks to improve ranking, semantic understanding, personalization, and customer experience.
- Turn research and new ideas into scalable solutions for production.
- Lead projects through problem definition, modeling, offline evaluation, A/B testing, deployment, and impact measurement.
- Work with Product, Engineering, Analytics, and business partners on strategy and technical roadmaps.
- Set machine learning practices, provide technical direction, and mentor data scientists.
- Deploy and monitor production models to maintain performance and scalability.

- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field plus 4 years of analytics-related experience; or a master’s degree in one of these fields plus 2 years of experience; or 6 years of experience in analytics or a related field.
- Demonstrated expertise in machine learning, ranking, recommendation systems, information retrieval, and personalization.
- Proficiency with Python, BigQuery, PySpark, Hive, and data visualization tools.
- Strong knowledge of Learning-to-Rank, neural networks, embeddings, representation learning, and modern recommendation methods.
- Experience applying generative AI and large language models to practical machine learning problems.
- Experience building and deploying data pipelines, MLOps, and large-scale production machine learning systems.
- Knowledge of experimentation, A/B testing, statistical methods, and model evaluation.
- Ability to lead complex, ambiguous initiatives and shape technical direction across teams.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Interest in innovation and applied research, with a focus on measurable customer and business outcomes at scale.
- Must work onsite in Sunnyvale, California.
