UK Remote Payroll Officer at Arbor Education

Manage end-to-end monthly payroll and pension administration for UK schools and multi-academy trusts. Maintain accurate payments, statutory deductions, HMRC reporting, and data-protection compliance.

Description

  • Oversee monthly payroll operations from initiation through completion for a portfolio of customers
  • Process accurate and timely payments for all staff
  • Maintain payroll records with current pay scales, pension and National Insurance rates, and tax thresholds
  • Calculate payroll adjustments, including leaver holiday pay and statutory maternity and paternity payments
  • Prepare accurate payments and reports for external stakeholders, including HMRC
  • Apply GDPR and ISO 27001 data-protection requirements consistently

Requirements

  • Degree-level education and/or a relevant payroll qualification
  • Prior experience processing payroll
  • Strong knowledge of HMRC requirements, including tax, National Insurance, and statutory deductions
  • Experience administering automatic-enrolment pension schemes
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace tools
  • Ability to analyse and interpret data effectively
  • Willingness to use AI proactively to improve work processes
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure
  • Knowledge of the Local Government Pension Scheme or Teachers’ Pension Scheme is desirable
  • Experience in the education sector is advantageous
