Technical Architect – Hanover, Hybrid Worcester

Lead solution and technical architecture for Hanover Technology Group’s insurance business. Design secure, scalable systems and guide project teams in this hybrid Worcester role.

Description

  • Lead and facilitate solution and technical design across projects and programs
  • Guide projects in defining high-level solutions and technical direction
  • Represent solution and technical design in project discussions and formal architecture review boards
  • Own project solutions, architecture processes, and related documentation
  • Apply enterprise architecture principles, standards, and patterns at the project level
  • Engage architecture specialists when additional expertise is needed
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and architecture disciplines to deliver business solutions
  • Define project technical approaches and detailed designs in line with architectural standards
  • Apply approved tools and products consistently across projects
  • Promote DevOps practices across applications and infrastructure
  • Identify and document nonfunctional requirements
  • Provide implementation and production-support teams with troubleshooting and root-cause analysis assistance
  • Coordinate with the project manager on status updates and resource estimates
  • Help identify and reduce risks affecting solutions, systems, infrastructure, and business processes
  • Evaluate security, performance, and data privacy during configuration and implementation reviews
  • Explain system capabilities and proposed changes to business users
  • Reuse shared capabilities, products, software, and infrastructure where appropriate
  • Check vendor and internal technical documentation for accuracy
  • Review and approve technical specifications while supporting delivery processes
  • Coach technical leads and developers in architecture and system design
  • Maintain adherence to approved software development methodologies
  • Operate across waterfall, agile, and hybrid SDLC approaches
  • Provide technical and conceptual guidance to business and technical teams throughout project delivery

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, systems analysis, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship, such as through lawful permanent residence or US citizenship
  • At least 2–5 years of IT or consulting experience in design and implementation, with deep expertise in one or more areas including network design, security, middleware, distributed systems, storage, endpoints, or databases
  • Familiarity with varied technical configurations, technologies, and processing environments
  • Practical experience using tools such as Visio and PowerPoint for architecture diagrams and presentations
  • Exposure to diverse business systems, technologies, and processing environments
  • More than five years of experience with database platforms and supporting infrastructure, including SQL, Oracle, or DB2
  • Ability to assess how system changes and updates affect related systems and infrastructure
  • Experience with different hardware and virtualization vendors and manufacturers
  • Strong interpersonal, planning, facilitation, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to evaluate both strategic and tactical considerations
  • Ability to convert business needs into solution and technical architecture requirements
  • Ability to estimate the financial effects of architectural solutions and alternatives
  • Ability to develop multiple solution options for business challenges
  • Knowledge of key aspects of The Hanover’s business and foundational information principles and policies
  • Basic knowledge of information principles and policies
