- Build and run reliable, scalable data infrastructure for Slack analytics, machine learning, and data-informed decisions
- Own several core analytics services, including Pinot and Trino
- Maintain the availability and reliability of compute and orchestration services such as Airflow, Spark on Kubernetes, EMR, and Hive Metastore
- Improve security, cost efficiency, and developer experience
- Develop automation and self-service tools for data workflows
- Work with data engineering, platform, and security teams to deliver scalable, governed solutions
- Develop observability, monitoring, and alerting with Grafana and related tools
- Set best practices, technical standards, and support models with staff and senior engineers
- Mentor and coach fellow engineers
- Scale compute and orchestration layers using AI-enabled, data-driven methods
- Deliver real-time OLAP capabilities
- Develop and scale agents, AI skills, and automation for engineering and data workflows
Requirements
- Bring at least 10 years of software, platform, or infrastructure engineering experience, including work supporting data-intensive systems or platforms
- Demonstrate experience building, deploying, and operating distributed infrastructure at scale
- Have a strong technical background in big data and infrastructure systems such as EMR, Airflow, Pinot, Trino, Hive Metastore, and Kubernetes, or comparable technologies
- Be proficient in Python, Go, Bash, and SQL
- Be proficient with CI/CD using GitHub Actions, Vault, Terraform, Chef, and Grafana
- Understand infrastructure reliability, observability, and cost efficiency in depth
- Bring hands-on experience supporting data pipelines or data engineering workflows; this is a strong plus
- Have hands-on experience building, managing, and integrating agentic workflows, custom AI skills, automated software factory pipelines, and MCP
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or have equivalent practical experience
- Collaborate effectively across functions
- Take ownership and deliver high-impact results autonomously
