Senior Software Engineer, Python/MySQL — Hybrid India
Build scalable IT monitoring capabilities for ScienceLogic’s AIOps platform as a senior Python/MySQL engineer. Diagnose performance issues and develop functionality across Python, PHP, and MySQL.
Description
- Partner with Product Management to clarify and finalize requirements for IT monitoring features
- Diagnose and resolve MySQL and Python performance issues in the Skylar One platform
- Develop new Python, PHP, and MySQL features in line with established coding standards
- Create and maintain unit tests
- Demonstrate completed features during handoffs to improve internal awareness of new and existing functionality
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience
- At least 8 years of software development experience with Python, including maintaining highly scalable Python processes
- Some programming experience with PHP
- At least 6 years of Linux experience
- At least 6 years of MySQL experience, including views, stored functions, stored procedures, and query performance analysis
- Experience building multithreaded or multiprocess software
- Basic working knowledge of SNMP, SOAP, and REST APIs
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices, primarily using GitHub
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle from requirements through delivery
- Experience evaluating AI-generated code and designs for accuracy
- Experience with GitHub Actions and Jenkins build workflows
- Experience in backend software engineering environments involving large datasets
- Experience working in Agile development environments
- Experience presenting new work to stakeholders for feedback and knowledge sharing
- Experience incorporating AI assistance into software development workflows and the broader software development lifecycle
- Experience with network or systems management
- Experience with network observability or monitoring platforms
- Exposure to distributed systems and large-scale data processing
- Experience contributing to system architecture with a focus on component availability and performance
