Senior Outpatient Coding Compliance Auditor – United States Hybrid

Lead outpatient coding compliance audits, corrective action planning, reporting, and auditor development for Ensemble Health Partners. This senior role supports compliance monitoring, training, risk assessment, and process improvement.

Description

  • Support the development and execution of annual compliance, auditing, and monitoring workplans
  • Lead detailed coding compliance audits, including complex engagements
  • Implement management action plans and produce accurate, high-quality audit reports
  • Build and maintain an Audit the Auditor quality assurance program
  • Coach and mentor both new and established coding auditors
  • Perform detailed coding audits and monitoring activities across acute care operations
  • Review findings to identify discrepancies, trends, patterns, and potential non-compliance, then recommend practical actions
  • Collaborate with service line leaders to create and validate management action plans
  • Assess audit quality and improve audit management tools and processes
  • Report audit and management action plan progress to Compliance leadership and escalate potential issues
  • Develop and maintain training resources for audit procedures and management tools
  • Deliver training, education, and ongoing support to coding auditors
  • Advise coding leaders on compliance audit questions and concerns
  • Keep current with coding guidelines and applicable industry standards
  • Maintain audit records, analytical reports, issue logs, and dashboards
  • Help onboard new compliance coding auditors
  • Contribute to compliance program improvement and effectiveness assessments
  • Support auditor assignments and follow up on outstanding deliverables
  • Contribute to annual risk assessments and compliance workplan preparation
  • Assess internal and operational controls against regulatory, corporate integrity, and compliance requirements
  • Build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Complete assigned projects and deliverables within required timelines

Requirements

  • At least 5–7 years of experience in healthcare, acute coding, compliance, auditing, or a related discipline
  • Working knowledge of ICD-10, DRG, CPT, and HCPCS coding, including acute outpatient and inpatient settings
  • Understanding of revenue cycle operations, compliance requirements, and audit standards
  • Experience with Epic, Cerner, and/or Meditech
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability and willingness to travel long distance or by air for up to 10% of the time
  • Curiosity and openness to innovation, including AI-enabled approaches
  • Ability and willingness to work onsite at client, temporary, or corporate locations when business needs require
  • Current professional certification such as CPC, CCS, RHIA, or RHIT; CCS is preferred
  • Willingness to obtain CHC certification within the designated timeframe after accepting the role
  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Records Management, Medical Coding, or an equivalent combination of experience, preferred
  • Must live in and be authorized to work in the United States
