Senior Engineering Manager, Grid – Sargent & Lundy (Remote, United States)

Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams delivering high-voltage substation designs and facility studies. Manage client projects that expand and modernize the electric grid at Sargent & Lundy.

Description

  • Lead and develop engineering and design teams supporting new and existing high-voltage substations
  • Diagnose grid challenges and deliver solutions that expand and modernize electric infrastructure
  • Guide engineering and design coordination from concept development through detailed design, field support, and project closeout
  • Strengthen client relationships through reporting, coordination, account support, and conflict resolution
  • Drive projects to successful, timely, and budget-compliant completion
  • Coordinate and deliver facility studies for regional transmission organizations
  • Oversee systems design to meet specifications, applicable codes, and client requirements
  • Produce concise technical reports and studies aligned with client needs and Sargent & Lundy standards
  • Perform independent reviews of engineering calculations and drawings

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program or an advanced degree in management or business
  • Hands-on MISO facility study experience and knowledge of the DPP process
  • Project management experience with utility transmission and distribution substation projects
  • Familiarity with NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEC, IEEE, and ANSI engineering standards
  • At least 20 years designing multidisciplinary solutions within project teams for utility high-voltage substations
  • Experience across electrical, civil, and structural scopes, including conceptual development, design basis, equipment and materials selection, industry practices, and construction package preparation
  • At least five years leading engineering design teams through every phase of project delivery
  • Technical understanding of available equipment and proven pre-engineered systems for systems design
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for presentations, proposals, and technical reports
  • Experience acting as a firm or client liaison in a supporting or lead engineering capacity
  • Working knowledge of construction documents
  • Willingness to travel to project sites and attend client meetings
  • Authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
  • FE or PE license preferred but not required
  • PMP certification preferred but not required
  • Construction and startup experience is advantageous
  • Commissioning experience is advantageous
