Senior Commercial Interior Design Manager - Austin Onsite

Lead commercial interior design delivery, team development, client pursuits, and business growth for JLL’s real estate services practice. This full-time role is based on-site in Austin or Houston.

Description

  • Lead design teams in defining client program requirements and preparing initial test fits
  • Develop and validate preliminary code analyses covering egress, plumbing counts, travel distances, and occupancy types
  • Join brokers, property owners, and end users on site visits to shape new design concepts
  • Prepare scope-based fee proposals and oversee fees, profitability, and resource allocation
  • Support market-focused business development by tracking, soliciting, and selling pre-lease and design services
  • Conduct site visits and field investigations
  • Lead, mentor, and develop team members while building a collaborative, high-performing studio culture
  • Coach team members in producing design and technical drawings
  • Review drawings for scope alignment and technical quality
  • Act as the primary client contact throughout design concepts, approvals, and execution
  • Maintain financial tracking for business performance and reporting history
  • Create pitch decks and develop tailored client pursuit strategies
  • Prepare for and participate in client pitches and business pursuits
  • Create pricing notes for completed design concepts and solutions
  • Work with studio leads on new-business pursuits, client development, and revenue-generating opportunities

Requirements

  • At least seven years of commercial interior design experience, with a demonstrated ability to remain hands-on during design development
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in interior design, architecture, or a related discipline
  • Fluency in AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Working knowledge of building codes and accessibility guidelines
  • Proficiency in architectural design standards, practices, techniques, concepts, and emerging trends
  • Strong grasp of design fundamentals, including space planning, materiality, finishes, and detailing
  • Excellent client communication, listening, and critical-thinking abilities
  • Strong organization and time management skills for handling concurrent projects and deadlines
  • Understanding of how building amenities support tenant attraction
  • Strong presentation skills and the ability to think on your feet
  • High quality standards, close attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize under pressure
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively while responding constructively to feedback
  • Strategic understanding of the business context behind a strategic brief
  • Adaptability and comfort working with ambiguity
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • Architectural (AIA) or Design (NCIDQ) certification is strongly preferred
  • Experience in healthcare, laboratory, industrial, or other technical environments is an asset but not required
