Projects Engineer - Digital Twin Simulation (Pittsburgh, Hybrid)

Join Emerson as a Projects Engineer developing digital twin simulations for power plants within its power and water automation business. The role supports control modeling, testing, validation, and customer-facing engineering projects.

Description

  • Help design, configure, and implement digital twin simulation systems that satisfy customer and project requirements.
  • Build, test, and validate control logic models that reproduce real-world power plant operations in simulated environments.
  • Work with process simulation engineers, project managers, and cross-functional colleagues to resolve issues and share insights.
  • Take part in customer-facing simulation validation, performance testing, and acceptance testing.
  • Assist senior engineers with global and cross-disciplinary projects.
  • Develop proficiency with simulation tools, automation platforms, and industry standards.
  • Help create and refine internal tools and processes that improve digital twin project efficiency.
  • Uphold teamwork, accountability, quality, and safety in daily work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least two years of hands-on engineering experience in process automation, simulation, controls, or a related area.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Capacity to learn new tools and concepts efficiently.
  • Clear, effective communication skills.
  • Ability to contribute effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented workplace.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20%.
  • Current and future authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering is preferred.
  • Experience with simulation platforms such as HYSYS, MATLAB, or Simulink is preferred.
  • Exposure to power generation systems, plant operations, or industrial environments is preferred.
  • Previous experience supporting customer-facing projects, training programs, or technical workshops is preferred.
