- Develop and maintain foundational infrastructure for Quora’s machine learning platform
- Improve the availability, scalability, and performance of ML infrastructure
- Design and enhance distributed systems that serve production LRMs and LLMs
- Develop GPU model-serving systems while reducing latency, resource use, and operating cost
- Help advance PyTorch-focused standards and modernize the machine learning ecosystem
- Create tools that accelerate ML engineers’ development, testing, and deployment workflows
- Upgrade the feature store to speed the delivery of new production features
- Join the on-call rotation and assist with diagnosing and resolving production incidents
- Deliver production contributions within the first few weeks with guidance from senior and staff engineers
Requirements
- Be available for meetings and unscheduled collaboration during Quora’s Monday–Friday coordination hours, 9 a.m.–3 p.m. Pacific Time
- Be graduating in 2025 or 2026, or pursuing a B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in computer science, engineering, or a related technical discipline
- Show a genuine interest in large-scale distributed systems, infrastructure, and machine learning
- Know Python, Go, or C++, or demonstrate the ability to learn these languages quickly
- Have prior software engineering experience from an internship, employment, open-source work, or a coding competition; this is preferred
- Have coursework or practical experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow; this is preferred
- Have exposure to Kubernetes, Docker, or AWS; this is preferred
- Have experience with profiling, benchmarking, or performance optimization; this is preferred
- Complete identity verification and a comprehensive background check before onboarding if selected as a finalist
- Be legally authorized to work in the applicable employment-eligible country and disclose whether visa sponsorship is needed
