Lead Front-End Software Engineer – Hybrid

Lead the development of scalable microfrontend eCommerce applications for Ford’s mobility technology organization. Guide UI engineers while shaping architecture, cloud solutions, and modern software delivery practices.

Description

  • Lead the development and delivery of microfrontend modules for Ford’s eCommerce products
  • Assess application architecture and recommend innovative technical solutions
  • Design, develop, and optimize reusable front-end components and interfaces
  • Maintain at least 80% code coverage
  • Apply eCommerce platform engineering expertise to build scalable solutions
  • Create proof of concepts with emerging technologies
  • Help design and deploy resilient cloud-based solutions
  • Advance continuous improvement within Ford’s Product Driven Organization model
  • Reduce dependencies, strengthen team autonomy, and improve delivery efficiency
  • Use MACH architecture principles to create flexible, scalable front-end applications
  • Lead and mentor UI developers
  • Partner with product managers, designers, and front-end and back-end architects
  • Convert business and technical requirements into user-focused solutions integrated with applications, microservices, and cloud services

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • At least 8 years of hands-on software engineering experience, focused on front-end development
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote environment with globally distributed teams
  • Ability to partner with Product Managers, Architects, and cross-functional engineering teams
  • Experience leading front-end engineering initiatives and mentoring developers
  • Experience designing and implementing microfrontend architectures for large-scale eCommerce platforms
  • Experience developing cloud-native applications and deploying scalable solutions on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing strategies, and DevOps practices
  • Experience with headless commerce platforms, composable architectures, and API-first development
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards, including WCAG
  • Experience with observability, performance monitoring, and production troubleshooting for complex front-end applications
  • Experience advancing technical innovation through proof of concepts and evaluation of emerging technologies
  • Familiarity with AI-powered development tools and techniques
  • Experience working in a Product Driven Organization or a similar product-focused engineering model
