Director of Design — United States (Remote)

Lead OpenText’s multidisciplinary design organization in a remote United States role. Shape brand systems, AI-enabled creative workflows, talent development, and scalable marketing experiences.

Description

  • Lead and motivate a multidisciplinary design team
  • Turn brand and creative strategy into scalable solutions for digital, omnichannel, and marketing experiences
  • Mentor designers through career paths, development plans, and leadership opportunities
  • Assess capability gaps and strengthen expertise in creative strategy, content design, specialization, and AI-enabled production
  • Guide the rollout of AI-powered tools and workflows to increase productivity, automation, scalability, and effectiveness
  • Manage creative operations, including resourcing, capacity planning, prioritization, workflow improvement, and delivery
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Communications, Product Marketing, Sales Enablement, and other partners on creative strategy
  • Advise the VP, Creative & Brand on workforce planning, organizational capabilities, technology adoption, and creative operations
  • Protect and advance the brand through design systems, templates, component libraries, and scalable standards
  • Promote innovation and continuous improvement while keeping the design organization agile and ready for changing needs

Requirements

  • At least 15 years of progressive experience in design, creative services, brand marketing, or a related field
  • At least 10 years of experience leading creative teams
  • Demonstrated success leading diverse, multidisciplinary teams and developing talent across experience levels and specialties
  • Record of building high-performing teams, developing future leaders, and expanding organizational capabilities
  • Experience guiding teams through change, transformation, or operating-model evolution in a corporate marketing, agency, or internal creative setting
  • Deep expertise in design principles, visual communication, storytelling, brand systems, and creative strategy
  • Experience managing creative operations, workflows, resources, capacity, and process improvement
  • Strategic judgment, business acumen, workforce-planning expertise, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders
  • Experience deploying AI-powered creative tools, workflow improvements, automation, or creative-enablement technologies
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Familiarity with current design, collaboration, project management, and resource-planning platforms
  • Strong knowledge of generative AI, prompt design, automation, and emerging creative technologies
  • Excellent communication, presentation, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Commitment to developing people, advancing innovation, and preparing design organizations for the future
