Analytics Engineer, Finance and Modeling

Own governed subscription metrics, financial reconciliation, forecasting, and tested data models for In Tandem’s family technology brands.

Description

  • Own metrics, reporting, and reconciliation supporting financial decisions across four subscription and transaction-based brands.
  • Define ARR, renewal rate, churn, and CAC in dbt, document them in Unity Catalog, create robust tests, and connect the metrics to the internal Slack business-question agent.
  • Move recurring finance reporting into marimo, retire the underlying Tableau views, and automate scheduled execution.
  • Reconcile transactions across app stores, payment processors, subscription systems, and the ledger.
  • Build automated discrepancy checks, route evidence-backed issues upstream, convert discrepancies into tests, and escalate issues while Accounting owns treatment.
  • Forecast cohort subscribers and revenue, aggregate renewal and retention, and support CFO forecasts and board reporting.
  • Model LTV by acquisition source to guide paid-spend allocation with Growth.
  • Assess pricing and promotional impact before launch.
  • Develop individual churn propensity and uplift models once a retention program can act on the scores.
  • Deliver tested, lineage-documented scored tables in dbt and Unity Catalog instead of notebooks.

Requirements

  • At least three years of experience in analytics engineering, data science, BI engineering, or advanced analytics.
  • Experience shipping statistical models into business processes, including forecasting, survival analysis, cohort analysis, or propensity modeling.
  • Ability to measure the lift from pricing changes or growth experiments and interpret results accurately.
  • Experience building and defending subscription metrics for finance stakeholders, including ARR/MRR, renewal, churn, LTV/CAC, or cohort revenue.
  • Strong SQL skills and solid dimensional modeling experience, including mart design.
  • Daily working proficiency with Python and Git.
  • Rigorous understanding of cohort curves, model leakage, and statistical noise.
  • Fluency in finance and the ability to explain financial metrics clearly.
  • Experience owning analytics projects end to end, from business question through model, testing, reporting, and stakeholder discussion.
  • Practical proficiency with Claude Code, coding agents, and agent SDKs.
  • Willingness to work across analytics, financial reconciliation, and dashboard support.
  • Experience with dbt, Databricks, Unity Catalog, or a comparable lakehouse environment preferred.
  • Experience reconciling transactional data with a financial system of record preferred.
  • Experience with code-first notebook reporting using marimo, Hex, Streamlit, or Quarto preferred.
