Handle automobile and property claims for Erie Insurance from its Cary, North Carolina branch office. Verify coverage, manage inquiries, issue payments, and maintain accurate claims records.

- Resolve claims within assigned authority with limited supervision
- Process first-party auto, third-party clear-liability auto, and low-severity property claims
- Contact policyholders and claimants throughout the claims process
- Confirm coverage and establish appropriate reserves
- Set up and issue payments through ERIE-approved methods
- Communicate with all parties involved in each claim in line with ERIE standards
- Respond to questions from policyholders, agents, insurers, claimants, and other contacts
- Record loss details in the claims system
- Prepare claim-related correspondence, forms, and supporting documents
- Review open claims and related activities regularly
- Assist with property claims during high-volume periods
- Complete other related tasks and duties assigned by the supervisor

- High school diploma or GED plus one year of related claims, customer service, or clerical experience
- Equivalent educational experience is required
- Obtain the appropriate state license within 45 days of hire as an external applicant or 90 days as an internal applicant
- General insurance coursework or education is preferred
- An associate or bachelor’s degree is preferred
- Perform manual keying, data entry, information processing, and computer work frequently, typically 50–80% of the time
- Drive occasionally as required
- Occasionally climb or access elevated areas
- Occasionally move more than 50 pounds with lifting-assistance equipment
- Occasionally lift or move items weighing 0–20 pounds
- Occasionally lift or move items weighing 20–50 pounds
- Occasionally push, pull, or move wheeled objects or equipment
