Head of Legal, Central Europe - France (Hybrid)
Lead WSP’s Central Europe legal function across compliance, risk, contracts, governance and disputes. Advise regional leadership while managing a team of approximately 13 legal professionals.
Tavsif
- Lead the legal function across Central Europe
- Serve as principal counsel for the Netherlands, Poland, Germany, Denmark, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Turkey, Hungary, Italy, Spain, Portugal and other growing markets
- Advise the Central Europe President, Country Managing Directors and functional leaders
- Report to the General Counsel for the Nordics and participate in the Central Europe Executive Committee
- Manage and develop approximately 13 legal advisors across the region
- Oversee regulatory compliance and reporting for regional and global stakeholders
- Manage claims, disputes and litigation, including Health & Safety and Ethics and Compliance investigations
- Oversee employment and labour law, works’ council matters, and union negotiations and relationships
- Manage the regional legal budget and relationships with external counsel
- Oversee corporate governance, entity maintenance and legal filings
- Support M&A legal due diligence, integration initiatives and corporate reorganizations
- Lead client contract negotiations and contract risk management policies and processes
- Integrate technology, AI and Global Capability Centre resources into regional operations
- Implement Global Delegation of Authority and Opportunity Risk Assessment processes
- Contribute to Enterprise Risk Management and approvals for high-risk projects
- Support GDPR and privacy programs and engage regulators regarding privacy breaches
- Provide legal, compliance and risk training to business and legal teams

- Based in the Netherlands or France
- Experience and expertise to serve as principal counsel for Central Europe
- Experience leading a regional legal team of approximately 13 people
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance, client contracts, claims, disputes and litigation
- Experience with corporate governance, intellectual property, employment and labour law, and dispute resolution
- Experience managing external legal counsel and legal budgets
- Experience supporting M&A due diligence and corporate reorganizations
- Knowledge of GDPR and privacy programs
- Knowledge of legal and regulatory issues related to intellectual property, ESG, AI and digital matters
- Ability to work with works’ councils and unions
- Ability to support risk management, approval processes and crisis management
