AI Connect Outside Plant Engineer – Hybrid

Engineer and expand Verizon’s AI Connect ultra-long-haul fiber network in a hybrid role. Oversee fiber engineering, site acquisition, construction, permitting, vendors, and infrastructure deployment.

Descriere

  • Design, deploy, and maintain outside plant infrastructure for the AI Connect Ultra Long Haul Network
  • Lead engineering, real estate acquisition, and construction for in-line amplification and outside plant infrastructure
  • Create project plans and manage timelines for data center interconnectivity and Verizon long-haul infrastructure initiatives
  • Define and execute deployment strategies with Global Real Estate, Network Planning, PSC, AI Connect, VBG Sales, and external vendors
  • Analyze routes for underground and aerial fiber-optic installations
  • Conduct contractor site walks to confirm construction, power, and fiber requirements
  • Lead infrastructure expansions in central offices and technical facilities
  • Evaluate prospective sites and develop business cases for acquisition
  • Secure and monitor construction permits as a 5G MLA real estate project specialist
  • Manage external vendors and purchasing throughout site acquisition and construction
  • Define service-order requirements for internal and external customers
  • Update leadership on construction progress, changes, and risks
  • Maintain compliance with applicable regulations
  • Coordinate with landlords, government employees, community officials, legal counsel, and building contractors
  • Mentor junior OSP engineers in infrastructure monitoring and fiber or equipment troubleshooting and repair
  • Direct internal departments and coordinate work across teams

Cerințe

  • Bachelor’s degree or at least four years of professional experience
  • At least four years of relevant experience in OSP or fiber engineering, construction, site acquisition, or real estate, including experience gained through military service
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to travel approximately 25% of the time
  • Working knowledge of outside plant engineering, network construction, and site acquisition practices
  • Preferred bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering; facility or construction management; or a related technical or STEM discipline
  • Preferred knowledge of outside plant engineering, high-capacity services, FTTC, FTTP, FiOS, network transformation, and core procedures
  • Preferred experience with A&E design, engineering standards, and network assurance practices
  • Strong planning, time-management, and multitasking abilities
  • Leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills for working with regulatory and community stakeholders
