Senior Unreal Engine Developer — Remote, United States

Build photorealistic digital twins and real-time simulations for SAS’s data and AI analytics platform. Develop Unreal Engine 5 systems, integrations, and production pipelines.

Description

  • Lead the design and development of photorealistic digital twin environments using Unreal Engine 5
  • Integrate real-time simulation and visualization for industrial systems, robotic fleets, and logistics operations
  • Partner with optimization specialists, IoT engineers, and software architects to create immersive, data-driven experiences
  • Link Unreal Engine visualizations with real-time telemetry, sensor data, and machine learning outputs from SAS analytics pipelines
  • Build and optimize custom Blueprints and C++ modules for simulation logic, physical behavior, and user interactions
  • Implement dynamic asset loading, level streaming, and runtime procedural generation for scalable digital twin scenarios
  • Assess, integrate, and extend Unreal Engine plugins, including SAS Connector and third-party tools
  • Establish best practices for Unreal Engine pipelines, Perforce, Plastic SCM, cloud services, REST APIs, and digital twin orchestration layers
  • Mentor junior developers
  • Help shape the long-term technical strategy for enterprise digital twin innovation
  • Contribute to open-source projects on behalf of SAS
  • Adhere to applicable security policies and processes that support secure software development goals

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline
  • At least eight years of professional experience building interactive 3D applications with Unreal Engine
  • Expert-level proficiency with both Blueprints and C++
  • Production experience with Unreal Engine server/client architecture and network replication
  • Experience connecting external data sources or APIs—including JSON, REST, WebSocket, or MQTT—to real-time applications
  • A portfolio of shipped real-time 3D or simulation projects demonstrating photorealistic rendering, physics simulation, or complex user interaction design
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States
  • Must not require employment visa sponsorship now or in the future
  • Previous experience at a AAA game studio or directly developing digital twin products
  • Experience leading a team of at least five application developers
  • Working knowledge of analytical, statistical, and optimization tools, particularly for ingesting and processing game event data
  • Knowledge of at least one key SAS product: CI360, Intelligent Decisioning, or Event Stream Processing
  • An advanced degree is preferred
