Senior Project Planning and Controls Engineer – AtkinsRéalis, Gurugram

Lead planning and project controls across AtkinsRéalis infrastructure and EPC projects, managing schedules, costs, risks, and performance reporting. Build Power BI insights and support delivery teams working across global projects.

Description

  • Create and manage integrated schedules with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and related planning tools.
  • Define work breakdown structures, activity logic, resource loading, and schedule baselines.
  • Prepare look-ahead schedules and track progress against approved baselines.
  • Perform critical path, schedule performance, and delay analyses.
  • Assess schedule risks and opportunities, then develop mitigation and recovery plans.
  • Support change control and revise performance measurement baselines for approved scope or schedule changes.
  • Plan EPC schedules across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
  • Set up cost breakdown structures aligned with the project work breakdown structure.
  • Develop project controls procedures, governance frameworks, and reporting arrangements.
  • Track budgets, commitments, actual costs, accruals, forecasts, contingencies, and cash flow.
  • Carry out earned value analysis and report performance findings.
  • Review cost and schedule variances, spot trends, and recommend corrective measures.
  • Prepare regular cost reports, forecasts, dashboards, and project performance updates.
  • Contribute to pricing estimates and cost planning throughout project delivery.
  • Help project managers manage early warnings, change orders, claims support, and controls documentation.
  • Contribute to qualitative and quantitative project risk analysis.
  • Track project KPIs and other performance measures.
  • Assess change impacts and analyse their effects on schedule and cost.
  • Maintain compliance with contractual obligations and project governance procedures.
  • Support supply chain activities and contract administration.
  • Improve, automate, and standardize project controls processes.
  • Create Power BI dashboards and interactive reports for project decisions.
  • Turn project data analysis into practical recommendations.
  • Track and report KPIs, trends, forecasts, and performance measures.
  • Use analytics, Power BI, DAX, SQL, and business intelligence tools to improve project reporting and visibility.
  • Contribute to project controls automation and digital transformation.
  • Work with project managers, engineering teams, contractors, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Act as a main contact for planning and project controls matters.
  • Align teams on schedule, cost, risk, and performance goals.
  • Join client meetings, steering committees, project reviews, and governance sessions.
  • Build stakeholder relationships that support successful project delivery.
  • Coach junior planners and project controls colleagues.
  • Share good practices and lessons learned, and drive ongoing improvement across projects and portfolios.
  • Show leadership and accountability while maintaining high delivery standards.

Requirements

  • Substantial experience in planning, scheduling, cost management, and project controls.
  • Expertise in critical path scheduling and earned value management.
  • Practical experience with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and similar planning tools.
  • Experience using EcoSys or an equivalent cost management system.
  • Skilled in cost management tools such as EcoSys and preparing reports.
  • Experience with cost breakdown structures, cash flow, and contingency management.
  • Proficiency in financial system interfaces, budget and cost control, and cost change control.
  • Understanding of NEC3, NEC4, and FIDIC contracts and how they affect project controls, claims, and schedules.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning processes.
  • EPC and infrastructure project experience is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in Power BI, data analysis, reporting, and dashboard creation.
  • Knowledge of automation tools, VBA, and digital solutions is an advantage.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, project management, building technology, or a related field.
  • Six to twelve years of relevant experience in planning or project controls on large-scale projects.
  • Experience supporting projects in the UK, Middle East, or US is preferred.
  • Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and report-writing skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Highly organized and adaptable in a changing project environment.
