Senior Python Engineer, Market Risk (Tampa Hybrid)

Build scalable Python applications for Citi’s market risk and stress-testing systems. Apply cloud, distributed systems, and generative AI capabilities in a hybrid Tampa role.

Description

  • Lead the implementation and architecture of scalable, resilient, high-performance Python frameworks
  • Develop solutions aligned with architectural standards and informed by technical and business-domain expertise
  • Apply SDLC best practices and strengthen code quality through peer reviews
  • Partner with Risk, Quantitative, Front Office, DevOps, and Production Support teams
  • Lead development for market risk stress-testing and regulatory risk initiatives
  • Own project technology responsibilities, including planning, governance, and initiative oversight
  • Deliver high-quality solutions independently in a globally matrixed environment with demanding deadlines
  • Handle additional duties related to the role as assigned

Requirements

  • At least six years of hands-on application development experience, primarily using Python
  • Expert proficiency with Python 3.x
  • Advanced knowledge of FastAPI, Django, Flask, object-oriented programming, and design patterns
  • Knowledge of software architecture and distributed systems, including microservices and event-driven architectures
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis, and advanced SQL
  • Expertise designing, developing, and securing RESTful APIs and integration patterns
  • Experience with Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, and Bitbucket Pipelines
  • Extensive experience with Unix-based operating systems
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, and Kubernetes
  • Advanced ability to troubleshoot, debug, and optimize distributed-system performance
  • Proficiency with Pytest, unittest, and test-driven development
  • Knowledge of secure coding practices and the OWASP Top 10
  • Expertise with Git, Bitbucket, GitHub, branching, and pull-request workflows
  • Experience building quantitative or calculation-intensive Python solutions
  • Knowledge of risk methodologies and practical exposure to them
  • Exposure to mathematical modeling and financial concepts
  • Exposure to TensorFlow, PyTorch, and scikit-learn
  • Practical experience using Copilot, Devin, Claude, Gemini, or GPT
  • Experience with agentic AI tools, including writing agents and skills and contributing to agentic frameworks
  • Knowledge and practical application of generative AI concepts
  • Experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies
  • Bachelor’s or university degree, or equivalent experience
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Desirable qualifications include Java, Apache Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, data warehousing, React, Angular, Vue.js, cloud or industry certifications, banking experience, and CFA or FRM certification
