Description

  • Deliver GitLab Professional Services engagements covering installation, migration, training, and advisory work.
  • Plan and implement deployments ranging from single-node Omnibus installations to large reference architectures with Infrastructure as Code and Configuration as Code.
  • Lead migrations from multiple source systems to GitLab SaaS or self-managed GitLab.
  • Work with Engagement Managers and Project Managers to strengthen delivery consistency and improve processes.
  • Act as a technical advisor by converting customer goals and constraints into implementation plans and clear next steps.
  • Collaborate with GitLab product and engineering teams to resolve customer blockers and communicate customer feedback.
  • Provide mentorship to Associate and Intermediate Professional Services Engineers.
  • Own and deliver multiple customer engagements as the primary or lead engineer.

Requirements

  • Professional experience with one or more Infrastructure as Code or Configuration as Code tools, including Terraform, Ansible, Packer, Puppet, or Chef.
  • Professional experience with at least two cloud providers, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience using, deploying, or configuring GitLab, along with a strong understanding of Git and source control workflows.
  • Experience delivering customer-facing services such as installations, migrations, training, and advisory engagements across GitLab’s capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects independently and lead or guide other Professional Services Engineers on complex engagements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to diagnose root causes, evaluate options and tradeoffs, and drive issues to resolution while managing multiple customer engagements.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a fully remote organization through clear writing, documentation, asynchronous communication, and alignment with GitLab’s values.
  • Must be based in Japan and have full working rights in Japan.
