Senior Engineering Manager, Container Platforms — Mirantis (Remote, United States)

Lead the strategy and development of secure, reliable Kubernetes container platforms at Mirantis. Grow engineering talent while advancing cloud-native infrastructure, operational excellence, and enterprise platform security.

Description

  • Set and deliver the long-term technical strategy and roadmap.
  • Maintain operational excellence, high availability, and disciplined software engineering practices.
  • Improve system resilience, operational measurement, and platform performance continuously.
  • Integrate security practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Oversee the secure adoption of AI technologies and agentic workflows.
  • Lead security architecture, threat modeling, vulnerability management, and secure coding initiatives.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering organization.
  • Create clear career-development paths and support an inclusive team culture.
  • Enable engineers to take ownership of quality, platform health, and technical innovation.
  • Work with Product Management and executive leaders on delivery, technical debt, stability, and security trade-offs.
  • Communicate effectively with executives, enterprise customers, and cross-functional partners.
  • Convert customer usage patterns and operational feedback into engineering priorities and platform safeguards.
  • Track developments in containerization, cloud security, and related industry innovations.
  • Promote the use of modern engineering tools and methodologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related discipline.
  • A degree in software engineering, computer engineering, or information technology may also qualify.
  • Seven to ten years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Proven experience leading or managing engineering teams in commercial software environments.
  • Strong technical expertise in distributed systems, cloud-native infrastructure, secure SDLC practices, and production operational metrics.
  • A successful record of recruiting, hiring, and developing engineering professionals.
  • Experience defining technical direction and establishing standards for operational excellence.
  • Experience guiding engineering teams through complex deliverables.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders and contribute within a team environment.
  • Experience coaching, mentoring, and managing engineering managers or team leads is preferred.
