Senior Data Platform Engineer – Berlin On-Site

Description

  • Own the Databricks lakehouse across ingestion, storage, architecture, orchestration, and governance
  • Create trusted datasets from commercial and logistics data such as quotes, orders, margins, suppliers, and shipments
  • Work with the Head of Data to convert business questions into reusable datasets and metrics
  • Develop data foundations for pricing, forecasting, and AI agents, including features, signals, historical snapshots, and feedback loops
  • Build quality checks, monitoring, and alerts for pipeline failures and schema drift
  • Apply near-real-time or batch processing according to business needs
  • Define standards for Andercore’s first dedicated data platform function
  • Partner with finance, sales, procurement, logistics, founders, and commercial teams

Requirements

  • At least five years of data engineering experience with ownership of a platform, not only individual pipelines
  • Strong SQL and Python skills
  • Practical experience with Spark and lakehouse architectures
  • Databricks experience is strongly preferred, including Delta Lake, Workflows, and Unity Catalog
  • Experience using a CRM or ERP as a core source system
  • Experience modeling manually maintained, inconsistent operational data
  • Comfort with infrastructure as code
  • Experience applying version control, CI, and testing to data software engineering
  • Ability to communicate with non-technical stakeholders and appropriately challenge requests
  • Ability to work effectively in a Series B company with changing priorities and incomplete specifications
  • Experience using AI coding tools and understanding when to apply them
  • Streaming experience with Kafka, Kinesis, or an equivalent technology is a plus
  • Machine learning and statistical analysis experience, particularly in forecasting or pricing, is a plus
  • Salesforce experience is a plus
  • Background in commerce, marketplaces, or supply chain is a plus
  • Interest in catalog, pricing, and fulfilment challenges is a plus
  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is a plus
  • Ability to work on-site in Berlin five days per week and address German work authorization and visa sponsorship requirements is required.
