Senior Data Engineer – AI & Data | EY Chennai

EY is hiring a Senior Data Engineer in Chennai to build scalable AWS and Databricks solutions for consulting clients. The role focuses on data pipelines, CI/CD delivery, and enterprise analytics infrastructure.

Description

  • Own CI/CD pipeline design and management across the data-solution development and deployment lifecycle
  • Map and integrate data across varied source and target systems
  • Build and optimize Data & AI solutions, including engineering pipelines and data models
  • Write production-grade Python, PySpark, and SQL code
  • Deliver enterprise-scale production deployments using DevOps practices
  • Contribute to Agile delivery through sprint planning, reviews, and continuous improvement
  • Apply Data Governance and Data Quality standards to support integrity and compliance

Requirements

  • 5–8 years of relevant experience with Data & AI solutions, engineering pipelines, data modeling, and performance tuning
  • Extensive experience developing data-ingestion frameworks and scalable pipelines
  • Advanced experience with AWS services, including S3, EC2, Glue, Lambda, and Secrets Manager
  • Practical experience working with Databricks
  • Proficiency with DBT (Data Build Tool)
  • Experience using Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration
  • Strong programming ability in Python, PySpark, Spark, and Scala
  • Experience with Git, Jenkins, and Apache Subversion
  • At least 3 years of experience in very large data-warehousing environments
  • At least 3 years of experience with data-warehouse architecture, ETL/ELT processes, and reporting or analytics tools
  • Experience developing in Python and/or Java within data-engineering environments
  • Familiarity with EMR, Hadoop, Databricks, Hive, and PySpark
  • Strong understanding of Data Governance and Data Quality standards
  • Ability to develop efficient Spark jobs and tune performance in large-scale environments
  • Advanced SQL and data-querying expertise
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • AWS, Databricks, or equivalent professional technical certifications are highly desirable
  • Familiarity with cloud and enterprise integration technologies
