Senior Contracts Manager - Renewable Energy

Lead commercial strategy, negotiations, governance, and risk management for SOLV Energy’s utility-scale renewable energy projects. Advise executives and develop contract management teams.

Description

  • Lead commercial strategy, negotiation, and administration for complex customer, supplier, subcontractor, and strategic partner agreements
  • Act as the primary commercial lead for high-value, high-risk, and strategically important contracts
  • Create and execute contracting strategies that support growth, profitability, and risk management
  • Advise senior leaders on contractual risks, obligations, and business opportunities
  • Work with Legal to develop, negotiate, and finalize commercial agreements
  • Negotiate complex provisions covering commercial structures, pricing, performance guarantees, indemnities, liability limits, warranties, and dispute resolution
  • Identify and mitigate commercial, operational, financial, compliance, and regulatory risks throughout the contract lifecycle
  • Create risk assessment methods and contract review frameworks
  • Review and approve contract exhibits, amendments, change orders, and other commercial modifications
  • Coordinate with Business Development, Operations, Finance, Procurement, Compliance, Legal, and executive leadership
  • Support proposal preparation and strategic pursuits during bidding
  • Advise stakeholders on contract interpretation, dispute resolution, and commercial decisions
  • Assess contract terms, liquidated damages, and pricing structures
  • Analyze contractual obligations and their financial effects
  • Track contract performance to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Build and maintain contract governance processes, standards, and controls
  • Oversee contract repositories, retention practices, milestone tracking, and lifecycle management systems
  • Manage obligations, deliverables, notices, renewals, and claim rights
  • Lead contract audits and assist with compliance reviews
  • Improve contract management processes, systems, templates, and tools
  • Create best practices, standard operating procedures, and commercial playbooks
  • Promote digital solutions and contract management technologies
  • Define KPIs and reporting metrics
  • Lead, mentor, and develop contract management staff
  • Support workforce planning, succession planning, and professional development
  • Maintain knowledge of industry practices, regulatory changes, market conditions, and commercial trends affecting renewable energy and operations and maintenance
  • Advise leadership on emerging contractual risks, opportunities, and market developments
  • Participate in industry workgroups, including SEIA and ACP

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, engineering, construction management, law, or a related field, or comparable experience
  • At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in contract management, commercial management, or a related discipline
  • At least 10 years of experience leading complex commercial negotiations and managing contract professionals
  • Substantial experience in utility-scale renewable energy, solar, battery energy storage systems, high voltage, power generation, EPC, or industrial services is preferred
  • Demonstrated success negotiating high-value customer service, subcontract, master service, and strategic commercial agreements
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship
  • Certifications such as CPCM, CCM, PMP, or an equivalent credential are preferred
  • Knowledge of union and non-union contract requirements
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulatory requirements, including FEOC, IRA, RETA, IPA, and NYSERTA
