Senior Azure Databricks Data Platform Engineer

Description

  • Manage and optimize Azure Databricks environments, including workspace settings, clusters, and workload monitoring
  • Support Lakehouse architectures and data solutions built with Azure Databricks and Azure Data Lake Storage
  • Improve platform performance through cluster tuning, Delta Lake optimization, and workload analysis
  • Diagnose and resolve Databricks, data pipeline, and performance problems
  • Implement Unity Catalog, access controls, and data governance capabilities
  • Maintain Azure security controls such as RBAC, managed identities, private endpoints, Key Vault, and Azure Policy
  • Track platform usage and identify cost-reduction and operational-efficiency opportunities
  • Support Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, and Azure Synapse Analytics
  • Monitor the health, availability, reliability, and performance of Azure data services
  • Investigate incidents and coordinate with infrastructure, networking, security, and engineering teams
  • Build and support ETL/ELT processes and data integration solutions
  • Create automation and Infrastructure as Code using Bicep, Terraform, Azure DevOps, and Git-based CI/CD
  • Advise application teams as they adopt Azure data platform services
  • Take part in an on-call rotation covering business and non-business hours

Requirements

  • Practical experience designing, implementing, and supporting Azure data platforms, including Azure Databricks, ADLS Gen2, Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, and Cosmos DB
  • Experience administering Azure Databricks, including cluster management, performance tuning, Unity Catalog, and Lakehouse architecture
  • Background in cloud security, governance, and data management, including access controls, metadata, catalogs, and lineage
  • Experience diagnosing and optimizing cloud platforms, databases, and data-processing workloads
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code, automation, and DevOps using Bicep, Terraform, Ansible, or comparable tools
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork abilities
  • Authorization to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (desired)
  • Experience with Microsoft Purview, Alation, Ataccama, Collibra, or comparable data catalog platforms (desired)
  • Exposure to AI/ML platforms, AI Foundry, or modern analytics and data science workloads (desired)
  • Experience with cloud cost optimization, FinOps, or capacity planning (desired)
  • Microsoft Azure certifications such as Azure Data Engineer Associate or Azure Solutions Architect Expert (desired)
