Enterprise AI Field Engineer

Description

  • Lead technical discovery with prospective customers.
  • Define the scope of proofs of concept.
  • Validate model architecture and deployment configurations through load testing and evaluations.
  • Build end-to-end proofs of concept and production integrations in customer environments.
  • Work through customer infrastructure, security needs, and organizational constraints.
  • Advise customers on model selection, fine-tuning approaches, and evaluation frameworks.
  • Help customers take open-model experiments into production at scale.
  • Coordinate relationships across multiple enterprise stakeholders.
  • Identify technical champions and align stakeholders to advance deals.
  • Share recurring customer challenges and deployment patterns with the product team.
  • Guide enterprise opportunities from discovery through production deployment.

Requirements

  • At least three years of experience in client-facing AI or machine learning roles.
  • Substantial hands-on experience with LLM inference, training, or both.
  • Working knowledge of open-model frameworks such as vLLM, SGLang, and TensorRT-LLM.
  • Experience fine-tuning LLMs; supervised fine-tuning is required, while DPO or RFT is a plus.
  • Experience limited to closed models or API wrappers does not meet the role’s requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver production code within a customer environment.
  • Strong Python programming skills.
  • Experience with GPU and cloud infrastructure on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Comfort working with Kubernetes.
  • Strong executive presence and ability to navigate enterprise organizations.
  • Able to discuss technical details with an ML engineer and present trade-offs to a VP on the same day.
  • Pre-sales or customer-facing field engineering experience, such as FDE, Applied AI Engineer, or Solutions Architect.
  • Software engineering experience without customer-facing work is not a fit.
