Data Engineer – Kubernetes (Hybrid, Germany)

Join citema systems GmbH to build on-premises Kubernetes data platforms for cybersecurity, AI, and blockchain solutions. You will develop data pipelines, automate platform operations, and implement streaming services.

Description

  • Design and develop an on-premises data platform running on Kubernetes
  • Build and integrate components for data orchestration, deployment, and platform automation
  • Develop proofs of concept, ideally using AI agent tools where appropriate
  • Implement batch and streaming pipelines together with platform services
  • Integrate Kubernetes workloads with S3-compatible storage systems
  • Assess data catalog solutions and connect them to the platform
  • Work closely with lead architects and infrastructure and security teams

Requirements

  • A computer science degree or equivalent qualification
  • Several years of experience with Kubernetes, Kubernetes infrastructure, and Linux
  • Hands-on experience with on-premises Kubernetes environments beyond public cloud platforms such as AWS
  • Experience developing proofs of concept and delivering them independently
  • Understanding of modern data platform architectures, including Kappa and Medallion
  • Knowledge of batch processing and low-latency streaming pipelines
  • Practical experience with several of Python, Go, SQL, Rust, Bash, and Java
  • Experience with multiple technologies such as S3, Apache Iceberg, Kafka or Redpanda, NATS.io, Dagster, Spark, Flink, and Airflow
  • Strong practical skills with Linux, Linux containers, and Kubernetes
  • Ideas for building edge-based data management platforms without public cloud services
  • Several years of professional experience as a data scientist would be advantageous
  • Very good spoken and written German
  • Analytical thinking, an agile approach, strong problem-solving ability, and a clear focus on practical solutions
