Data Engineer III (Onsite) – TD

TD is seeking an onsite Data Engineer III to build data models, ETL workflows, and governed Databricks solutions. The role supports data analysis, testing, deployment, architecture reviews, and enterprise data engineering initiatives.

Description

  • Analyze data and assess data management needs for platforms and customer journeys
  • Maintain expertise in upstream data through profiling, quality reporting, and metadata creation
  • Support data acquisition and ingestion processes
  • Design and develop data models, including entity-relationship diagrams and dimensional models
  • Build and maintain complex ETL jobs and frameworks with the Bank’s standard tools
  • Gather and analyze business and data requirements to deliver complete solutions
  • Ensure data aligns with enterprise standards, policies, and guidelines
  • Help development and testing teams resolve data issues, escalating complex problems when needed
  • Assist partners and stakeholders with data interpretation and analysis
  • Advise peers and cross-functional partners on research, analysis, design, and support
  • Coordinate with ITS, ARE, Architecture, Enterprise Protect, and other technology teams to support delivery
  • Assist QA with data analysis and investigations during SIT, UAT, and PAT testing
  • Oversee post-implementation activities throughout the warranty period
  • Execute and approve source-code repository check-ins and check-outs
  • Support code packaging and CI/CD deployments to higher environments
  • Lead participation in application design and architecture reviews
  • Submit ServiceNow requests and support release management activities
  • Lead enterprise data engineering initiatives and data governance capabilities
  • Ensure metadata and data lineage are captured and compatible with enterprise tools and processes
  • Follow secure coding practices while documenting technical decisions, risks, lessons learned, and enhancements
  • Protect organizational interests by identifying, managing, and escalating risks
  • Stay informed about emerging trends, business developments, tools, and techniques
  • Mentor and guide team members through knowledge sharing and engineering best practices
  • Build effective relationships with internal and external partners and stakeholders
  • Keep stakeholders updated on project status and daily activities
  • Contribute to a fair, positive, equitable, and diverse workplace
  • Represent TD and the applicable business area as a brand ambassador

Requirements

  • Degree, postgraduate degree, or technical certificate in data management or a related field such as computer science or engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • A graduate degree is preferred
  • At least five years of relevant experience
  • At least five years of hands-on SQL and Python experience developing, analyzing, and optimizing data-driven solutions
  • At least five years of data modeling experience
  • At least five years of hands-on experience with enterprise relational databases such as SQL Server, Synapse Dedicated Pool, or Oracle
  • At least three years championing knowledge growth, best practices, and platform support for Unity Catalog and Databricks Lakehouse solutions across technical teams
  • Experience analyzing and tuning SQL query performance
  • Experience in the banking or financial services domain
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for troubleshooting database issues
  • Expertise in data engineering frameworks, technologies, tools, processes, patterns, and procedures
  • Expertise in TD applications, systems, networks, innovation, design activities, business operations, best practices, and standards
  • Knowledge of data profiling, quality reporting, metadata, lineage, governance, and lifecycle management
  • Experience with industry-standard data modeling tools, ETL jobs and frameworks, source-code repositories, CI/CD, ServiceNow, and change management
  • Ability to independently perform highly complex technical tasks
  • Ability to design, develop, analyze, integrate, code, test, debug, and execute solutions against business and technical requirements
  • Ability to explain complex technical details to nontechnical business partners
  • Ability to collaborate with technology, QA, development, testing, architecture, infrastructure, and business teams
  • Ability to work in an office-focused environment while performing sedentary work, managing multiple tasks, and maintaining continuous concentration
  • Occasional domestic travel is required; international travel is not required
