Senior AML Team Leader – Brisbane Onsite

Lead AML analysts and guide Financial Crime operations at BOQ Group, an Australian challenger banking group. Oversee investigations, regulatory compliance, and operational transformation.

Description

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of AML analysts
  • Work hands-on as a trusted subject matter expert across AML operations
  • Advise on complex cases and resolve technical queries
  • Support robust risk management and compliance outcomes
  • Guide analysts through Financial Crime investigations
  • Build team capability through development and knowledge sharing
  • Spot opportunities to streamline processes
  • Advance continuous improvement and operational transformation
  • Help define the future direction of AML Operations
  • Maintain high-quality team delivery while meeting regulatory obligations
  • Work collaboratively within an experienced team

Requirements

  • Substantial experience in Financial Crime
  • Established credibility as a Financial Crime subject matter expert
  • Experience in AML/CTF operations, transaction monitoring, investigations, sanctions screening, customer due diligence, regulatory reporting, or wider Financial Crime risk management
  • Sound risk-based judgement in a fast-moving environment
  • Leadership experience is valued but not mandatory
  • Senior Analyst experience with evidence of leadership through mentoring, coaching, training, and supporting colleagues' development
  • Ability to advise on complex matters and technical questions
  • Strong attention to detail with a practical approach
  • Clear, confident communication across varied stakeholder groups
  • Commitment to improving processes
  • Completion of background screening, including relevant identity, reference, criminal background, immigration, academic qualification, and bankruptcy checks
  • Compliance with employment obligations under the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act
