Data Engineer – Fulfillment & Logistics (Remote Germany)

Build fulfillment and logistics data products for INTERSPORT’s e-commerce platform. Develop pipelines, data models, and tracking integrations covering orders, deliveries, returns, and partner performance.

Description

  • Build and operate scalable data products alongside ETL and ELT pipelines for fulfillment and logistics workflows.
  • Connect data from order management platforms, marketplaces, shipping providers, and tracking services.
  • Create data models for shipping, delivery, returns, refunds, and partner performance.
  • Develop the data foundation for SLA tracking, performance analysis, and operational dashboards.
  • Supply fulfillment and tracking data to product teams and digital services, including Customer Service.
  • Connect event-driven data sources, including Kafka.
  • Maintain data quality, governance, and privacy standards.
  • Expand monitoring capabilities and automated quality checks.
  • Partner with Product Management, Engineering, and Operations across the business.
  • Take ownership of data products from business requirements through production operations.
  • Help advance the Data Engineering practice through shared standards and effective ways of working.

Requirements

  • Several years of experience in Data Engineering or a related position.
  • Strong working knowledge of SQL and Python.
  • Hands-on experience with ETL or ELT processes and data modeling.
  • Background integrating operational or transactional systems and APIs.
  • Experience with modern data platforms; Snowflake, dbt, and Prefect are preferred.
  • Experience with Kafka or comparable event-streaming technologies.
  • Knowledge of AWS cloud services.
  • Infrastructure as Code experience with Pulumi or Terraform is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of data quality practices and Data Governance.
  • Experience working with cross-functional product or software development teams.
  • An independent, organized, and solution-focused working style.
  • German proficiency at B2 level or higher and fluent English.
  • Experience working with order, fulfillment, logistics, or shipping data is a plus.
  • Familiarity with OMS, carrier, or tracking systems and their interfaces is a plus.
  • Experience with SLA or performance monitoring, or data-led partner management, is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Data Mesh and domain-oriented data products is a plus.
  • Experience with BI platforms such as Looker, Metabase, or Power BI is a plus.
  • Experience in e-commerce, marketplace, or platform businesses is a plus.
