Data Analyst – Payments (Hybrid, Cyprus)

Analyze large-scale payment data at payabl. to build dashboards, automate reporting, and support decisions across product, risk, finance, and sales. The role combines payment-performance analysis, statistical investigation, and cross-functional insight delivery.

Description

  • Own payment-performance investigations from initial question through conclusion, examining approval-rate declines and anomalies across gateways, issuers, and merchants
  • Prepare reliable datasets through filtering, missing-value treatment, and data-quality validation
  • Use statistical methods to uncover patterns, relationships, and trends while separating meaningful changes from random variation
  • Create and manage Apache Superset dashboards and Apache Druid data cubes
  • Deliver accurate recurring reports for internal, regulatory, and payment-scheme needs on schedule
  • Automate repeatable analytical workflows and reporting processes
  • Communicate evidence-based findings and recommendations to stakeholders
  • Work with teams across the business to turn operational questions into well-defined analytical problems

Requirements

  • Advanced SQL skills, including window functions, common table expressions, aggregation logic, and performance analysis for large datasets
  • Python analysis experience using pandas, a visualization library such as Matplotlib, Plotly, or Seaborn, and SciPy or a comparable statistics library
  • Background working with relational and analytical databases, including PostgreSQL
  • Experience developing dashboards with a BI platform such as Apache Superset, Metabase, Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or Qlik
  • Practical experience using JupyterHub, Jupyter, or a comparable notebook environment
  • Familiarity with Git-based development, including version control, merge requests, and code review
  • Ability to automate data and reporting workflows
  • Strong communication skills, with confidence presenting analysis to varied audiences, including senior decision-makers
  • Demonstrated ownership of work from definition through delivery
  • Desirable experience includes fintech or payments, regulatory or scheme reporting, dbt, Apache Airflow, automated report generation, event tracking and product analytics, practical AI tools, or machine learning for forecasting, anomaly detection, segmentation, fraud detection, and risk scoring
