Accounting Associate - Hybrid in Canton, NC

Accounting Associate responsible for reconciliations, accounts payable, financial reporting, asset tracking, tax filings, and regulatory support. This full-time hybrid position is based in Canton, North Carolina, with Champion Credit Union.

Description

  • Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts on daily, weekly, and monthly schedules
  • Process accounts payable workflows and help ensure invoices are paid on time
  • Purchase and oversee supply orders for all departments
  • Reconcile corporate credit card statements
  • Support the fixed asset program and participate in periodic inventory audits
  • Prepare and post general ledger entries used in financial reporting
  • Assist with sales and use tax reporting
  • Help update the Asset Liability Management (ALM) model each month
  • Assist with maintaining the investment portfolio
  • Keep accurate records of supply inventory and non-capitalized assets
  • Support preparation of the quarterly Call Report
  • Assist with annual vendor tax and personal property tax filings
  • Perform dual-control duties in accordance with credit union operating and security procedures
  • Protect confidential financial and member information
  • Maintain current knowledge through training and professional development
  • Contribute to team initiatives, events, and cross-functional activities
  • Follow BSA, OFAC, Patriot Act, and applicable state and federal requirements
  • Complete other responsibilities assigned by the supervisor

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • An associate degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related discipline is preferred
  • At least two years of experience in a financial institution is required; an equivalent combination of relevant education and financial institution experience may be considered
  • Experience with accounting functions such as reconciliations, accounts payable, general ledger work, or financial reporting is preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organization, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Consistent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to follow established policies and procedures
  • Professional, effective communication with internal and external contacts
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced setting
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Ability to sit and/or stand and occasionally lift or move items weighing up to 30 pounds
