Clinical Design Physician, Neuroscience (Hybrid)

Lead Phase II–IV neuroscience trial design for Eli Lilly and Company, shaping clinical strategy, protocols, and study execution. Partner with cross-functional teams and senior leaders to advance clinical development programs.

Description

  • Design Phase II–IV neuroscience clinical programs and studies
  • Convert therapeutic-area and asset-team strategies into development programs and trial alternatives
  • Present program and trial design recommendations to asset teams and senior leaders
  • Provide medical and clinical guidance on protocols in partnership with cross-functional teams
  • Evaluate protocol features for feasibility, value, patient and investigator burden, and execution efficiency
  • Contribute to asset strategy, portfolio clinical strategy, and asset-specific clinical plans
  • Partner with clinical research staff on trial design and conduct, including sample sizes, timelines, grants, and governance reviews
  • Assess study risks and support appropriate risk communication to participants
  • Support investigator selection, participant recruitment and retention, and the handoff from design to execution
  • Build and sustain relationships with external experts, thought leaders, professional societies, conferences, consortia, and the broader medical community
  • Support scientific data dissemination, final reports, publications, and clinical design science
  • Monitor medical literature, competing products, and scientific advances
  • Identify and share effective practices for program and protocol design
  • Help advance Lilly’s standards, tools, processes, templates, and design practices

Requirements

  • MD or DO degree
  • Board eligibility or certification in a relevant field, or comparable post-medical-school clinical training appropriate to the hiring country
  • US-trained physicians must hold board eligibility or certification
  • Physicians trained outside the US must have completed education and training at a medical school meeting LCME requirements
  • At least three years of relevant pharmaceutical-industry or research experience in Phase II–IV clinical trial design
  • Clinical research experience in neuroscience is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of therapeutic-area pathology, pathophysiology, unmet needs, and treatment standards across major geographies
  • Solid grounding in statistical science, including Bayesian methods applied to study design
  • Experience with global or multinational study design or development
  • Willingness to relocate to Indianapolis or demonstrate effectiveness in a hybrid work environment
  • Willingness to travel for business-critical events, including limited domestic and international travel
  • Fluency in English
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and negotiation abilities
  • Ability to influence stakeholders across functions and within the discipline
  • Regular experience using AI to accelerate deliverables
