Claims Examiner I – Workers’ Compensation (Remote, FL/GA/NC/SC)

Handle workers’ compensation claims remotely for Sedgwick, from exposure investigation through adjudication and resolution. The role includes settlement negotiation, claim communications, and reporting to excess carriers.

Description

  • Review workers’ compensation claims for clients and determine the benefits payable
  • Manage claim adjudication in line with service standards, industry practices, and client requirements
  • Process claims using action plans designed to achieve timely resolution
  • Investigate claims and collect information to assess exposure
  • Negotiate settlements within assigned authority
  • Keep claimants and clients informed about claim activity and processing
  • Report claims to excess carriers
  • Provide professional, timely responses to requests for direction

Requirements

  • At least five years of claims management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred
  • Professional certification relevant to the line of business preferred
  • Working knowledge of licensing and jurisdiction requirements in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina
  • Computer keyboarding skills
  • Ability to hear, see, and communicate verbally
  • Strong clear and conceptual thinking skills
  • Sound judgment and discretion
  • Ability to meet deadlines
