Community Engagement Manager - North Carolina

Lead family engagement, communications, training, and student-support initiatives for North Carolina Virtual Academy. Coordinate Learning Coach services and community programs for families in a virtual learning environment.

Tavsif

  • Lead the Strong Start onboarding process for incoming students and Learning Coaches
  • Run Strong Start orientation sessions for new families
  • Monitor invitations, participation, and communications to improve attendance and clarity
  • Record the Strong Start workflow in school documentation and the handbook
  • Run weekly office hours and support sessions for newly enrolled families
  • Coordinate communication among students, Learning Coaches, and teachers
  • Deliver staff development focused on effective family engagement
  • Create and lead education and training programs for Learning Coaches
  • Deliver virtual parent enrichment sessions covering goals, portfolios, learning preferences, technology, scheduling, time management, test preparation, and related subjects
  • Build community participation among families, board members, administrators, and school employees
  • Assist with standardized testing procedures and policies, emphasizing family engagement and volunteer participation
  • Contribute to re-registration efforts with school leaders and national teams
  • Guide families toward national K–12 programming
  • Support marketing contests, student clubs, and academic competitions
  • Provide tailored assistance to students and Learning Coaches who need additional training or networking support
  • Create, execute, and assess yearly communications plans
  • Manage internal and external communications across newsletters, announcements, flyers, websites, automated calls and texts, and social media groups
  • Draft, edit, and design communications for internal audiences
  • Organize in-person family engagement activities, including college visits, back-to-school events, and book fairs
  • Deliver outreach, training, and support informed by Students First Check In survey results
  • Manage and facilitate the school’s social media presence

Talablar

  • North Carolina residency is required
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, human services, or a related field plus two years of comparable family-focused experience, parent mentor or Learning Coach development, or community engagement; an equivalent combination of education and experience is also accepted
  • Ability to pass the required background check
  • Working knowledge of online learning environments
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visit, and web tools
  • Willingness to travel 25% of the time
  • Three years of experience in comparable family engagement, parent mentor or parent training development, or community involvement work
  • Master’s degree in education, counseling, human services, or a related field preferred
