Forward Deployed Engineer at VAST Data (Hybrid - United States)
Partner with strategic customers to solve distributed systems and AI infrastructure challenges. Turn deployment insights into VAST Data product enhancements, automation, and reliable production outcomes.
Descriere
- Work directly within strategic, large-scale customer environments
- Partner with customer architects, operators, and developers to understand scaling challenges
- Resolve complex infrastructure issues and improve system throughput
- Diagnose difficult problems and build solutions for large workloads
- Convert real-world customer requirements into core product improvements
- Coordinate with engineering teams on hotfixes, roadmap changes, and new builds
- Create custom API endpoints, automation tools, and scripts
- Incorporate feedback from internal engineering code reviews
- Represent customer priorities in product roadmap decisions
- Lead the technical success of strategic deployments from design through production operations
Cerințe
- Deep foundational expertise in distributed systems, high-performance file systems, storage protocols, and performance tuning
- Strong knowledge of high-throughput networking fabrics, including InfiniBand, RoCE (RDMA over Converged Ethernet), and 100GbE or faster networks
- Advanced understanding of Linux system architecture, memory management, and kernel mechanics
- Proficiency in Python and C or C++, including the ability to read, debug, and safely modify complex enterprise software
- Experience operating large-scale AI training environments or high-performance computing clusters is highly desirable
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, PyTorch, and TensorFlow is highly desirable
- At least 5 years in a highly technical engineering role such as Forward Deployed Engineer, Resident Engineer, Systems Software Engineer, or Senior Systems Engineer, including customer-facing collaboration
- Willingness and ability to travel to or work on customer sites as needed
- Exceptional communication abilities
- Highly organized and self-directed, with the judgment to manage customer expectations and establish strategic boundaries
- Curiosity and the ability to quickly learn unfamiliar technical concepts
